The owners of this beautiful Old English Tudor residence challenged the Orren Pickell Remodeling Group to create a new kitchen that was bright and cheerful but still complemented the stately style of their home while adding much-wanted storage space.
Square footage was then taken out of the garage transforming the utility room into a keeping room/laundry configuration. The attic storage space became a full bath, office with a new fireplace and guest bedroom. Without adding any square footage, the home, originally built in 1985, now has a completely up-to-date feel and flow as well as more open functional space.

Gold Coast Mansion Revived
The main objective of this project was to preserve the integrity of one of Chicago’s classic Gold Coast mansions by retaining its exquisite vintage details while still infusing each space with modern amenities. The Orren Pickell Remodeling Group more than met these goals with a total renovation that is truly exquisite. This imposing 8000 square-foot private residence built in 1897 has been transformed into an oasis for the contemporary family.
The Dearborn project was awarded a 2006 Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence in the Whole House Remodel Over $500,000 Category for the Best Design Build Project.

When Dennis and Julie first contacted me, they had a clear direction in mind; they wanted an addition to incorporate a new and larger kitchen and a family room/informal dinning area that could hold large family gatherings. Oh yes, there would be no allowance for a TV. After 3 months of planning Dennis, Julie and I came up with their dream remodeling project. It was a little more aggressive then the first day we met but was exactly what they wanted. Expecting four to five months worth of work, we were able to complete the project ahead of schedule in 61 working days. The project won two design awards and is something to behold. Did I forget to mention, Dennis and Julie added some personal touches you have to see to appreciate?
